A Message from our Senior Warden -

The Wardens and Vestry of Trinity Church would like to inform the congregation what has been happening in the last month and a half.

As all of you know we are in the Search (Discernment) Process for a new Vicar.  You also know we are having financial difficulty. I had a conversation with Rev. Canon Elizabeth Geitz from the Diocese and she let me know that the Priest at St. Andrew's, Bridgeton, is leaving as of Oct. 31, 2008.  St. Andrew's will not be able to afford a full-time Priest.  She asked me to rech out to their Senior Warden and speak to him about sharing a Priest.

Because of this, we have been meeting with St. Andrew's (four of us from Trinity and four from St. Andrew's) and have made good progress.  We must share a priest so both congregations can move ahead.

Please pray hard to make this work.  And, please pray that the right Priest will be found that can take care of both our needs.

A Message from our Priest Associate, Fr. Bill Speer -

I want to let the people of Trinity know that I welcome the opportunity to begin dialog to address the problems facing the Episcopal Church in Cumberland County through shared ministry.

We are fortunate that our Church allows us the freedom to creatively solve our own problems.  I believe we need to take this opportunity to step out in faith, trusting in God the Holy Spirit to lead us to a creative solution using the resources of our Churches to support the ministry needed to carry our Churches into the future with confidence.

As a priest, I believe that one Priest c ould lead the ministry with two deacons, and many well-trained laity to perform all necessary functions of ministry.

While the amount of Diocesan financial support is limited, I am certain that if we present the Diocese with a creative, workable plan, all the money we need will be forthcoming.

I end by challenging us all with these questions: How can the problems we face be reshaped into an opportunity for growth financially? spiritually? And socially?  As we walk this walk of faith together, please keep the Discernment Process in your daily prayers.

- Fr. Bill Speer
