A Message from Rev. Ellen C. Rutherford -

Dear Members and Friends of Trinity,

It's such a pleasure to look at Trinity Church and see her carefully tended building and the beautiful flowers in her gardens.  Thank you to all of you who have a part in keeping Trinity looking her best.  Our community life within the walls of Trinity is also carefully tended, from behind-the-scenes activity to our public worship and community service.  Thank you for your prayers and support and hard work that continue to strengthen the mission of Christ through this congregation.

God has chosen to call us together in this congregation and has invited us to realize what it means to follow Christ in this particular time and place.  We bring our gifts and our hopes and our needs to this calling, and we depend on one another to shape our response to God's invitation.  Each one of us is essential to the wholeness of our life together at Trinity.

We do not live for our own gratification; because in baptism, we gave our lives to be servants of Christ's mission.  This is no easy task, and servanthood often requires more of us than we could imagine is ours to give.  Servanthood begins in prayer and study, where we immerse ourselves in God's presence; it is lived out in relationships and choices that put our prayer into action; and it returns to prayer, the continuing context for our actions. Trinity is the particular place in which God has called us to learn our servanthood.  It is our privilege to meet God within the embrace of generations of Trinity's faithful, and it is our challenge to carry on that faithfulness in our own times and opportunities.

                                                   In thanksgiving and with prayer,
                                                                Ellen +
